Last weekend flew by so fast and before
I knew it my kids had left to go back
home, but the short time we spent
together was so very special to my heart.
Simple moments are the best:
hanging out around the table
eating way too many oatmeal
chocolate chip cookies - thanks
to my fabulous daughter in law,
Heather.
Peeking in and seeing my daughter
sleeping in her bed all snuggled up
and cozy - it never gets old looking
at your precious babies sleeping...
Sitting outside in the 80 degree weather
(Thanksgiving in So Cal) sipping cocktails
and waiting for our Thanksgiving meal to cook.
Walking thru the door from work the day
before Thanksgiving and to have Steff
greet me with a big smile and her arms out
both of us asking each other if we looked
different after 2 1/2 months apart.....haha...
heart melting moment...
And a few hours later to hear a knock on our door
and see two beautiful faces - my son Matt and his wife, Heather -
well my heart was singing, that is for sure.
Chatting with Heather while doing the dishes together,
and she thanked me for never making her feel like she
was taking my son away when they got married (like
some moms do, I have heard...) That made my heart soar!
Going to my favorite cafe for breakfast with my kids
and just enjoying chatting with each other
Having a late night dinner with Alex and
Matt and Heather - there is always alot of laughter
and eye rolling (especially around Alex....) haha...
To be perfectly honest all we did was eat, sit around
whether it was at home, a cafe or a restaurant and
hung out with each other - talking, laughing, just being..
That was the best ever!

I loved this post. You did such a wonderful job capturing the closeness you all feel. And how wonderful it is that you have such a nice daughter-in-law. That's a real blessing!
