when I was around 5 or 6 years old. There
was a HUGE box just for me, I couldn't believe
my eyes - and when I opened it I was in
cowgirl heaven, to say the very least!
There inside the box was a cowboy hat, boots
and a holster with guns (this was way before
our life got politically correct-tifed). There
could have been other things like a shirt or a
scarf (but my memory is sketchy..haha.) I know
later on I had suede chaps for wrestling cattle..:)
I can't tell you how much that warmed this little
cowgirl's heart - I adored that gift, as my fave
book at the time (and I still have it) was Cowboy
Andy (a Dr. Seuss club book) and I wanted to do just
what he did - live on a ranch and ride horses.
Aside from that being one of my fave Christmas gifts,
I have alot of wonderful Christmas memories from my
childhood like getting the tree and decorating it while
singing to Christmas music, watching Alvin and The
Chipmunks Christmas Special and White Christmas, "helping"
my mom bake and package her cookies to give to friends and
family, and watching her wrap presents - I loved just sitting
nearby as she wrapped the gifts so perfectly!
Oh, the anticipation of getting that first peak of magic
on Christmas morning - my stomach was in knots and I
could never get to sleep, I was so excited. I was always
the first one up each Christmas and I would wake
everyone, so we could get on to the business of
opening those gifts and stockings. I felt like Shirley
Temple in the Little Princess when she woke up from
her sleep and her attic room was filled with beautiful
things and a warm meal!
Merry Christmas everyone!
xxoo

I loved every word of this post, Cowgirl Cathi! Sorry I'm so late in responding. I feel like I was bowled over by Christmas and moving last week, and now I'm at a conference in Philly this week--craziness!
ReplyDeleteHope your Christmas this year had a bit of that Shirley Temple in Little Princess magic!!
