I don't know if it was the sea air or all the laughing we did yesterday,
but I am still EXHAUSTED from my day with my sis and her mom and sis inlaws.
As I was driving to Santa Barbara it was a bit foggy, but by the time I got there
(I live about an hour away) the fog had lifted and it was a gorgeous day! We
headed out to a very small town (one or two blocks long) a few miles down the road
from Santa Barbara called Summerland and checked out some garden shops and antique
stores, then drove thru my dream retirement town Montecito to show the in laws.
(I always stop in for coffee when I am passing thru - I just adore that town.)
A bit later we drove down by the pier and decided to ride the surrey bikes - we had five women
total with one little princess - Alberta (my sisters mom in law) being chauffered around with
out having to pedal, as there were only four pedals. I was joking with her that we should have
brought grapes to feed her as she was enjoying the ride....alot of the laughing was happening as
we were riding this Surrey bike - having to manuever thru the crowds and the other bikers on the
bike trail and all of the patrons of the Arts & Crafts Fesitval that were walking around near our
path. My sis designated me the driver of this contraption and she was my co-pilot (or so she thought.)
Her steering wheel was just for her own amusement and we were hysterical watching her trying to
steer along with me...After a almost an hour and half of riding around the beachfront - we
opted to find a restaurant to relax and eat in....that was quite the fun work out riding that surrey.
And we laughed all day long - at one thing or another (usually our bike pedaling skills)...
just a fun fun day with my sis and her inlaws.
At the days end, I bid a fond farewell to the girls as we were all exhausted
and I had a long drive home with all the rest of the weekenders. It took
me quite a while to get home due to so much traffic,
and when I did finally get home, I headed straight for that tub of mine to fill
it with lots of bubbles!
A perfect end to a great day!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend too..!!
P.S. Does anyone know the name of this flower? (the Iphone quality
isn't the best, but thought the flower was so pretty!)
xxoo
Thanks for coming Cathi - we had a blast! I don't know what it was either - but we were all exhausted. Alberta had such a fun weekend - she was really, really happy.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun hanging out with the girls!
Sounds lke you had the BEST time, Cathi.
ReplyDeleteThat's what life is all about.
Have a lovely week. XXXX
Sounds like a wonderful day. I've never been on a surrey, and I was wondering about the flower, too - it's pretty!

You covered it all Cathi ~ exercise, laughter and great food with great people. Sounds like the perfect day to me. Not sure what the flower is but I love them ~ the petals look so fragile.
ReplyDeleteI figured the flower out - it is called a Matilija Poppy, a native California plant...it is so pretty and delicate looking!
