always remember...

This quote reminds me of  my little friend Rachel - she is 87 years old and has the best attitude in the world. No matter what life throws at her, she keeps getting herself up and dusting herself off. This past year she has been in the hospital more than she has been at her home, she lost her daughter and a best friend also.  On Saturday, I went to the assisted living to take my movies and I asked my other friends there how Rachel was doing, they told me that she fell and was in the hospital again.  So
the next morning, I stopped by the hospital to say hello and bring her some pretty flowers to brighten her day and she wasn't there either! After several phone calls with her assisted living home and the helpful nurses at the hospital - we tracked her down to a rehabilitation place. Come to find out she fell and broke both of her arms and had to have surgery on her shoulder.   When I spoke to her and asked how she was doing she said  that she was doing good and couldn't wait to get herself back in shape and get back to her home to do some living! She is my hero and such an inspiration to me!
Do you have people that inspire you?

  2. Wow Cathi ~ what a great attitude your elder friend has ~ she could teach some of us something I am afraid. Anyone that inspires me to be a better person is an inspiration to me.

  3. Oh, yes! You know it is my Mom - even when one of the therapists tried to call her "frail". It rattled us for a bit, but she and all of us knew it wasn't true. As much as I have always admired her I got to see raw determination as I watched her do her exercises everyday, never missing even once or complaining about it. She's determined to be independent. I love her so much!

  5. That is so sweet... my friend Sheila (76) is my inspiration... and probably my closest friend right now. She calls from England 2-3 times a week, and always has something positive to say. I just love her phone calls. :)
