I am fascinated by this Copenhagen Cycle Chic website! It's so
refreshing to see everyone cycling instead of driving around in
a car. In my younger days, I rode my bike everywhere - including
a trip from my hometown San Jose to San Francisco (which took
about 5 hours.) And also up to the top of a mountain range - another
5 hour ride/walk and alot of tears on that one, but alot of fun too!
In my early twenties, I lived in St. Thomas, Virgin Island for a bit and
I had a vision of riding my bike everywhere, just like all the photos they
showed in Seventeen and Glamour magazines at that time. However,
when I got there I hadn't planned on all the hills, so I ended up renting a motorcycle instead as the mopeds were all taken - but that story is for another day!
Have a fabulous week, everyone!
Sending sunshine and smiles to you today!

Funny you mention that site from Coppehagen...last year I was thinking about cycling and found it and fell in love with it. I too would love the lifestyle of being able to cycle but I'm (a) not so good on a bike and (b) the city is too busy -- it would be fine in the country. I get all nervous when I see cyclists in the almost middle of the road when I'm driving!!
ReplyDeleteOh Cathi,
ReplyDeleteThat image makes me yearn for a car free life and a healthy cycling one !!!! Such a wonderful way to live but I fear that I have left it too late !! I have still got the stamina to ride a bike but, how far I can go without collapsing, I don't know !! haha.
I read your comment over at Mel's about you maybe going to France. Are you coming over to England again ?
Have a lovely week Cathi. XXXX
I have not been on a bike in years unless you count the one at the gym!! I do love a good long walk though ~ if the rain ever stops I will get out there again! Happy Monday. xo
ReplyDeleteYou need a little grandbaby to take on your rides! xxoo
ReplyDeleteLoved our visit to Copenhagen a couple of years back, and I was amazed at all the cyclists. Good for them!
ReplyDeleteHello Cathi:
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have given up our cars, we have not, we regret to say, taken up riding bicycles. Perhaps if we look up the Copenhagen Cycle Site we may be tempted, but we supect not. We love the idea of owning bicycles, especially those with baskets at the front, and briefly toyed with them some ten or more years ago.....but it is all such hard work and operating the gears was quite beyond us. Nowadays we have a fondness for bus travel and even make the journey from London to Budapest by bus [just the 27 hours!]
An interesting thought on the picture you show is why the child requires a helmet whilst the adult has her hair blowing in the breeze?!!
We have enjoyed reading your most interestingly varied posts and shall return.
hi there.
ReplyDeletei would love to live someone where everyone cycled. as it is, it's a mountain town. i tried it once. yikes!
but cycling is one of the few movements i'm willing to make. :)
i never knew you lived in st.croix. i loved learning this about you. a motorcycle huh? ; )
