on my mind today...

My daughter had a fabulous birthday - thank you for the wonderful wishes for her!  Her friends gave her a surprise party filled with fun, food and lots of dancing - i think she has some pretty awesome friends.

When I went to visit my senior friends on Saturday, I learned that my little friend Rachel had passed away on friday.  I feel so blessed to have known her and went to a wonderful celebration of her life today and met her family. (I wrote a post about her a year ago called Attitude of Gratitude) I will miss her dearly and smile when I think of her.

While at the cemetary, I stopped by my friend Sandi's grave and just sat there for a bit.  It sits upon a hill and overlooks the valley. It was early in the day, and the clouds were rolling in, but it was such a gorgeous view!  As I looked at her grave, I noticed someone had left a wired heart and a purple amethyst stone imbedded in the soil and that made me smile.  She would have loved that.

I went to my fave cafe this morning after Rachel's service and just sat there with my thoughts, the great food and enjoyed people watching.  It never gets old...

I'm listening to my daughter teaching herself some Beatles songs on her piano and she is playing "In My Life"  and "Here Comes the Sun" - so perfect at this moment.

My friend Sally and I are going to a play next week called the Drowsy Chaperone (i love that title) -it's a fun musical and I can't wait!  We have been loving all the local theater productions and go to one a month, they are so fabulous!

I have been thinking about the phrase "Live like you mean it" and when I initially heard it - I envisioned people jumping out of airplanes and bungee jumping - two things that I am pretty sure I won't be voluntarily doing anytime soon, if ever. I then realized that it just means living your life to the fullest, whatever it is you chose. So in honor of my friend Rachel (who knew what that phrase meant)

LIVE LIKE YOU MEAN IT, FRIENDS!
MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY!

  1. So sorry to hear about your elder friend Cathi ~ I remember that post and she was an inspiration to all of us. We should all be living like we mean it ~ not just existing ~ it's a great mantra. Happy Monday. xo

  3. This is one of the best posts I've read in a long time. Like Tracy said, those are great words to live by. As you celebrated your daughter's birthday and gathered with friends to celebrate the life of your friend who had passed, you were living by those very words. I always love hearing about your adventures, whether it's going to a play or people-watching at a cafe, you do, indeed, live every day like you mean it, Cathi. You're the best.

    xoxo Gigi

P.S. I won't be jumping out of a plane anytime soon, either! :)
